The Kudu stroller stands out with its irregular shapes and geometry, made possible by utilizing high-strength deep-drawn plate aluminum. This innovative technology sets it apart from other products on the market, which are typically manufactured using aluminum extrusion. The simplicity of its lines, unique geometry, and minimal number of sub-assemblies and joints make the Kudu stroller easy to recycle, with the chassis consisting of only three parts: the handle, front assembly, and rear assembly.
The realization of the Kudu stroller involved a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum. Initially, carbon fiber prototypes were created, showcasing a free shape language. To enable mass production, the design was adapted to aluminum, specifically deep-drawn plate aluminum, which was then welded, polished, and hand-painted.
Technical specifications of the Kudu stroller include dimensions of 600mm in width, 900mm in depth, and 1000mm in height. When folded, it measures 600mm in width, 360mm in depth, and 810mm in height. The chassis weighs 7.4kg, while the seat weighs 2.5kg.
The Kudu stroller offers a user-friendly experience with its lightweight and simple structure. It features pneumatic wheels with independent suspension, allowing it to navigate various terrains effortlessly. The reversible seat, with a collapsible backrest offering three reclining positions, provides versatility for both the child and parent. Additionally, the fully reclined position allows the stroller to double as a changing mat. Folding the Kudu stroller is a breeze, as it can be done in one piece, with or without the seat included. The chassis unfolds with just one movement, ensuring convenience for parents on the go.
The Kudu stroller project commenced in 2005 with the first fiber carbon prototyping in Barcelona. It reached its completion in January 2012 with the first aluminum mass production. Throughout the design process, the team faced the challenge of manufacturing a carbon fiber stroller with a free shape language. However, they successfully overcame this obstacle by adapting the design to aluminum, resulting in the unique and innovative Kudu stroller.
The Kudu stroller has garnered recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Baby, Kids, and Children's Products Design category in 2013. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the Kudu stroller's exceptional expertise, innovation, technical characteristics, and artistic skill. It evokes positive emotions, amazement, and wonder, making it a top-of-the-line and professionally remarkable design.
